Salty Mama Mission
With respect to the diversity of paths that people take in their reproductive years, I seek to provide a full spectrum of high quality, personalized, non-judgmental services to support all people and their families before, during and after pregnancy and birth.

About Ruth
Ruth Castillo has lived in San Antonio since 2005, when she first started at St. Mary’s University. There she found many forms of love – love for all peoples that could only be expressed through a passion for social justice, and love for her best friend-turned-husband. After a miscarriage in 2009, Ruth sought out more information on the reproductive years and learned of the doula profession. She had found her calling. She trained as a birth and postpartum doula with DONA Int’l, and later as a Postpartum and Infant Care Specialist with ProDoula. Since then she has also sought out trainings as a Lamaze childbirth educator, car seat safety tech, and infant massage instructor.
Ruth formerly served as Assistant Director at a local, non-profit, community doula program that matches teen-aged and no-to-low-income parents with local doulas for free services. She wore many hats, but she primarily mentored and supervised the diverse roster of doulas who work with the program’s clients, in addition to outreach and intake duties.
Ruth is mother to one daughter, born via cesarean in 2011. They maintained a breastfeeding relationship for over 30 months. Ruth, her husband, daughter, her mother and their four dogs live in north-west San Antonio, Texas.
